According to producer Jon Landau at a recent screening for the 3D re-release of Titanic, Avatar 2 is about four years away and audiences can expect Avatar 3 only a year later since both movies will be filmed back-to-back. That would put Avatar 2 for a 2016 release, but seeing as we’ve just crossed into 2012 it’d be safe to think that it could make a late 2015 release.

Also, though initially announced for a 2013 or 2014 release when news of the sequels was announced, Cameron and company are looking to advance the 3D technology even further with the added years.

Frank Springer draws a fantastic city, doesn’t he? This cover gives a good sense of the story in this issue by compressing the romance and crime-fighting into a single iconic image. (Ali isn’t in her Dazzler duds during her aerial makeout sessions with Warren inside the comic, something that Springer gestures toward in this picture by leaving off Dazzler’s stage makeup. Her unmadeup face stands in here for her largely costume-free appearance throughout the issue itself.)

Some people seem a little confused as to what the big deal is about Search+. This post by Danny Sullivan highlights exactly what the big deal is.

Google is using Google Search, a property with which they have a (natural) monopoly, to heavily juice Google+, a property which is late to the social game and has many prominent rivals, notably Facebook and Twitter.

Google is trying to spin it that they don’t have access to Facebook and Twitter data, but that’s not exactly true. They have all they need to populate the Google+ Juice Box (the People and Pages box situated in the right column of Search+). But they’re not doing it.

And this affects by logged in and logged out users. What’s insane is that Google apparently thinks this is fine.

But after decades of campaigns against youth exploitation, the right is rekindling vestiges of the sweatshop era with legislation aimed at rolling back child labor laws.

While they didn’t go so far as to recruit tweens back to the factory floor, throughout 2011 state legislators pushed bills to erode regulation of youth employment.”

Little known fact: before I landed my current gig, a.k.a., The Best Job in the World, I worked somewhere else for almost eight years. Even though they’re both pretty much the same job (meaning, I do essentially the same thing), they couldn’t be more different from each other.

Aside from the people, culture, and services, the main difference between my old gig and my current one is that the offices of my old job were in a beautiful, historic NYC landmark building with dark, rabbit-warren-like offices that looked more like a law firm than an ad agency, while the offices of my current job are in a beautiful, historic NYC landmark building with tons of light and an open floor plan.

My former employer recently moved to a swank, ultra-modern space, pictured above. It’s worlds away from the white shoe corporate feel of their previous location. I stopped by for a visit this afternoon to see friends and meet with some former colleagues. While some staff there are still wary of the change, most seem to love it, as they should.

One of the weird things about going back to someplace where you used to work (and spent what ended up being the majority of your professional life) is seeing some of your former colleagues who are still there. They’re happy that you’ve escaped, but you also feel a terrible sense of survivor’s guilt. While I had a few pangs of nostalgia, it was a great relief to get back to my own office, the place where I truly belong.
